The execution of Casandro was a remarkable feat of student-driven filmmaking, brought to life by a passionate and talented team of young creatives. As a senior thesis production at SCAD, the film was entirely student-led, showcasing the capability, discipline, and innovation of emerging artists across directing, cinematography, production design, costume, and more. Filmed in a large industrial warehouse, the shoot involved extensive transformation of the space through sustainable practices, including the reuse of materials, sourcing from local vendors, and repurposing set elements. Over 40 extras filled the screen, and scenes involving controlled firearms were handled with utmost care and adherence to safety protocols. The production operated across three languages—Spanish, Malayalam, and English—demanding not only logistical precision but deep cultural sensitivity. Detailed scheduling, call sheets, and department check-ins ensured fluid communication and creative alignment throughout. From hand-fabricated costumes to custom set pieces, every detail reflected the resourcefulness and ambition of the team. With a full post-production pipeline already engaged, including editors, sound designers, VFX artists, and colorists, Casandro stands as a testament to the power of student collaboration and sustainable storytelling. The official Casandro website, featuring behind-the-scenes content, story materials, and production insights, will be launching soon.
